Retirement – Ready or Not!
Ready or not, retirement is an event that occurs at some time for most of us (by
choice or not). A new retiree may now spend up to one-fourth to one-third of his
or her life in retirement as life spans and good health increase. Having adequate
financial resources is an important means to an end, but how we spend our time and
preserve our mental well-being and physical health determines the quality of our
retirement years, regardless of wealth.

Setting goals for the future, finding activities in retirement that meet your
personality and interest needs, learning how to cope with transition, and knowing
your range of options are part of good retirement planning. Retirement is a time to
explore old interests and discover new ones. For some retirees, a second career is
an option that will fit with your personal needs as well as enhance your finances.
